Shopping and Catering
The biggest talking point regarding shopping at Dubai International Airport, quite literally, is the immense Duty Free store, covering over 5,000 square metres and full of great products at excellent prices.
With regard to food and drink within the airport, the Departures level of the concourse is home to around 25 different bars and restaurants, with a mix of foods from around the world. From KFC and McDonalds through to fine French, Chinese and even Mongolian restaurants, the concourse has it all.
Foreign Currency Exchange
Situated adjacent to Gates 22, 18 and 8 are the Bureaux de Change, operating all day and night and always ready to provide the required currency, either upon arrival in Dubai or prior to flying out of the country.
Visitor Lounges
The airport has taken it upon themselves to look after travellers to the best of their ability, and part of this support can be seen in the special lounges they have created. These are separate from the Airline Lounges, and offer a dedicated lounge for Mothers and also a special play area for children. Have a look between Gates 12 and 14 to find them.
There are other airport provided lounges too, where rest rooms can be booked on an hourly basis, showers are available to freshen up and internet access is provided.
Luggage
Being a modern airport, the luggage at Dubai receives a tracker when checked in, so that each individual piece can be found quickly and easily, the tracking device immediately highlighting its location. Also, for travellers wanting to leave their hand luggage for a while prior to their flight, there are lockers provided near to the Duty Free shop.
Medical Care
There is a fully operational medical centre that can be found in the concourse that deals with both basic first aid requirements and more serious issues.
Business Services
Travellers needing to tie up loose ends can visit the Business Centre, situated next to Gate 16. A team of staff are on hand there to produce letters, send emails or amend appointments at the travellers request. Look upon them as a secretary and that is pretty much how they work.
Postal Services
A 24 hour post office, offering a full suite of postal services, can be found next to Gate 18.
